Mental health service dogs (service dogs) are intensively trained to respond specifically to the specific impairment of their owners, including individuals diagnosed with a mental health disorder such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The service dogs are trained to feel the anxiety in their owner’s and intervene by giving them a sense of security, create a sense of relaxation and promote socialization.
